Moon´glade` n. 1. The bright reflection of the moon's light on an expanse of water.
“MOONGLADE” is a non-canon Fairy Tail rp. Our story begins in the northern continent of Giltena, more than 400 years after the “disappearance of dragons”. With a focus on the Kingdom of Valeria, a country with a deep history revolving around the Moon Dragon, you will be able to play a vital role in the development of this kingdom--unless you choose a different journey. In Giltena, revered dragons have chosen to walk among you, and villains posing as heroes litter both the royal courts and the city streets. Weary traveller, what will you bring to the kingdom? Forge your path, and push forward through a world of magic and dreams.
WATER DRAGON FEST
The portside Town of Elmina is holding their annual Water Dragon Festival in honor of the Water Dragon Waka. Water Dragon Waka is a known foodie, so there will be a cooking competition held by the city lord as well as a variety of street vendors set up to celebrate the festivities. Additionally, the royal family of Valeria will be holding a hunt in the nearby Pouring Rainforest in honor of this event. This forest is controlled terrain so they will be releasing captive beasts into it. Choose. Do you want to help or hinder with these activities? The choices are yours.

It was a time to lament being immune to her own magic, though wandering draped in thin cotton fabrics of parchment-cream coloration made the desert heat tolerable enough. Jury sighed softly as they came about the umpteenth mound, ready to loose her fingers if Orla looked at all in want of a chilling break. “Investigate the red desert, what a jarringly vague request. If it hadn’t come from the higher heads up in the kingdom, I wouldn’t have suggested this,” she said, nigh apologetic. Arms wide all around and her nose a wrinkle, it was clear the older female was not particularly enthralled by their current predicament.
Hours away from the nearest civilized settlement and with a compass to keep direction, Jury turned deep blue eyes to Orla from under a large white hat. They had been walking and stopping for some time now, utterly without incident or clue. At first it had seemed prudent to avoid the general direction of the oases and its hosts of local tribes, but with sand stuck in her shoes and the undulating promise of death by sand viper not too far from her foot, she was beginning to reconsider. “How do you feel? Still good for another hour or should we call it a day?” A vague request could end with a vague report, she internally told herself, a restlessness beginning at the base of her spine.
It was the first time she had taken Orla this far from safety, she reflected with minute disquiet. Besides her own satchel of supplies, Jury had given the blonde another, smaller bag. It was half-filled with bundled herbs that were light enough to carry and made for great spices, like parsley, basil, mint, and sage. ’We’re not guilded mages out here, we’re traders until someone asks specifics,’ she had said when they had still been out of heat’s reach, suggesting they stay discreet. ’Since we don’t know what opinion the locals have about our guild or our investigation, it’s best to stay innocent and undercover if we can. Also, it wouldn’t do to warn the subject of our trip that we’re watching them, and we have no idea who we’re supposed to be watching.’ In consequence, she had decided their story was to be looking for decorative succulents and wild desert flowers.
It often came down to people, Jury thought, and if someone out here had garnered the kingdom’s interest, she didn’t want to be the one to tell them that. If they were lucky, it was about something else. A natural phenomenon, perhaps? The sheet tent she had packed waited on sand storms. Strapped to her hip, fixed to her thigh under a concealing flow of cotton skirt, was a thin rapier made for someone who was more a dancer than a fighter. Her own satchel of supplies had just about enough water left to make the journey back without dealing with any oasis. The rest was dry meat and bananas. The first aid kit was last, stuffed deep within the folds. Her trader bag held two pounds of cherries that she intended to exchange for quality succulents or desert wildflowers. Or eat. She loved cherries.
If Jury had overlooked something, she couldn’t tell what.
It was time to enjoy the benefits of having an ice wielding mage for a friend! Orla was used to heat, considering she had lived up in the harsh mountains with the sun beating down on their tiny little shack nonstop during the warmer months. But this desert was SO MUCH WORSE! At least it was right up until good ol' Jury would come to her rescue with her chilly magic to make everything alright. As nice as it was, the starry eyed blonde couldn't help but feel bad for her friend. She seemed may have been dressed well for the weather, but it was difficult to ignore the beads of sweat forming on the woman's forehead. If only there was something she could do to help...[break][break]
"Yeah it would be nice if we had a specific objective to look for. But I'm sure that they knew what they were doing when they put in the request. Maybe they're having us look for some kind of mythical magic treasure but don't want to tell us so we don't get our hopes up?" Unlike the older mage, Orla seemed to be just as enthusiastic about their quest as she was at their outset. Which was to say very excited. The entire time the girl would keep her large sketchpad in hand, her hand working quickly to sketch out each and every dune in an attempt at making some sort of map as they walked. Unfortunately there wasn't much around here to sketch, but at hopefully this would prove useful?[break][break]
Orla would look up to Jurianne as the question was posed. The eraser of her pencil would move to tap against her pursed lips as she seemed to take a moment to consider the question. "Well... I'm ok to continue if you are. But you do seem pretty hot." Suddenly her eyes lit up with a bright sparkle, her lips curling into an excited smile as a brilliant idea finally occurred to her. "Here, this should help." Clutching her sizable sketchbook in both hands the smaller girl would start waving it up and down in a wide arc, each swipe sending a soft gust of wind in Jurianne's direction.[break][break]
Unlike the more experienced mage, Orla wasn't quite as prepared for a trip through the desert. Luckily she had been warned not to wear his usual thick dresses, which meant she had to spend some of her saved up jewels on more fitting clothes. The lightweight hooded robe wasn't nearly as cute as he normal clothes, but at least it helped keep the sun off her skin. Aside from that all she had was the small bag of herbs she assumed she was given for that cover story she was supposed to tell people should they get caught? The idea of lying to people like that didn't set well with the young mage, the idea causing her stomach to churn just thinking about it. Hopefully they would be lucky enough to avoid that sort of encounter...[break][break]
Scrawny arms would continue to fan without letup, even as her gaze would slowly drift to the similar yet beautiful dunes that surrounded them. "But if we are gonna take a break this would be a pretty nice spot. The view is really wonderful."
It would seem that you’ve prepared rather well for the desert, and as a result Goddess Rebecca has smiled down upon you for the duration of your mission. There is a cool breeze that blows through the desert during your journey, and the oases you pass are abundant. As you stand among the desert dunes, your eyes will be drawn by the dazzling sand, and then something sparkling in the distance... [break][break] Do you chase after all that glitters? There was a quality to Orla that few still possessed – a slender beam of sunshine, the first leaves in spring. Although their age difference was not too great, Jury could feel her soul heavy where Orla’s was light. It was tender and sweet, the feeling it stirred in the ice mage as she considered her wistful words with a small smile. I don’t think anyone cares about our hopes here, kitten, she thought, then said. “If they want to recuperate or document something, it’s in their best interest to tell us as much as possible. If we don’t find anything, we’ll be disappointed either way.” Perhaps a little relieved, too, to have made it out in one piece. “In any case, we get to say we traveled into the red desert and back and any time in the future we’ll be more prepared.” Jury winked.
A rather cool desert was still hot to Jury, whose core of magic was attuned to winter and blizzards. She wiped at her brow just as Orla confirmed she could continue, prompting an apt observation. Jurianne paused, blinking as the blonde began to fan her with her sketchbook. The look in her eyes instantly melted in delight, the younger female’s efforts joining with the desert breeze to actually provide some relief. “Thank you, I needed that...” she admitted, shoulders slumping as she relaxed.
Through the haze of her unfocused pupils, far in the distance she began to see light, shimmering waves where there should have been dunes. Blinking to attention, she rubbed at her eyes as Orla spoke of a break, then peered at the sight. “Do you see that or is it just me?” It was always good to check in the desert, heatwaves were known to alter perception. The more she looked, the more she frowned. “Might be a mirage – a desert illusion,” she shared with Orla. “You know how during hot summer days the landscape seems to alter as you gaze upon it through the heat? Right where we’re standing it’s not so bad, so that glittering could be an indication of a heatwave.” Or a huge army of metal-clad unknowns. Or a gem or metal structure smack dab in the middle of the desert. Since the latter two were as unlikely as finding desert fish, the elder mage was banking on that flashy detail that could steal the gaze to be exactly what she thought it was. Jury looked at her compass, to make a mental note of its location respective to their journey.
“My gut says we go in the other direction, what do you think?”
Smile would fade to a look of quiet contemplation as she continued to wonder why they would have received such a directionless mission. There had to be some sort of reason, right? Maybe it was just something that was beyond her understanding. There was still so much she didn't know about the way things worked in this great wide world, so she most certainly wasn't in any sort of position to question what she was told. Cheerful expression would quickly return as the brighter side of their trip was brought back to her attention, her head bobbing from underneath the hood of her robe in agreement. "That's true! A lot of people were talking about how dangerous it is out here, but it seems fine to me."[break][break]
Though nothing would make her smile like watching Jury relax as her fanning seemed to offer some relief to the ice mage. She would let out a soft laugh as she continued to fan, seeming to gain some strength and speed upon receiving a positive reaction. Unfortunately it meant that she had to give up on keeping her map up to date, but that was probably gonna be ok. It was much more important for Jurianne to stay alert and comfortable than for her to fiddle around with her pet project.[break][break]
That bright smile would start to become somewhat strained as time went on, the burn in his arms and shoulders starting to take their toll on her. But she wouldn't allow herself to stop, forcing her thin arms to push forward despite the pain. Orla was in ok shape, but her training had been almost entirely focused around her magical abilities. Even if she hadn't been performing the repetitive motion for too long it was definitely starting to wear down on her. Yet as long as she stayed focused on the task at hand she knew she could keep this up all day![break][break]
Unfortunately she would quickly find herself getting distracted as Jurianne pointed out something in the distance, her arms falling limp as she turned toward the distant sparkle. Eyes would narrow into a squint as she stared into the endless expanse of sand, scanning the area for a moment before finally spotting the shine. "Oooh! Yes, I see it!" Something that sparkly must have been some sort of treasure uncovered by this surprisingly cool desert breeze, right? Apparently not, as Jury seemed to be convinced that it was nothing more than an illusion created by the desert heat.[break][break]
Orla's head would bob in enthusiastic agreement as she turned back to the brown haired woman, her arms slowly raising as she forced herself to resume her fanning. "Yeah, you're probably right. We should keep looking." Truthfully she would have loved nothing more than to investigate that distant sparkle of hope, but she would be plenty content to follow Jurianne's lead. After all, she was so much more experienced in this stuff.
Your party decides not to chase the distant sparkle in the sand, and heads towards the opposite direction instead. As for what opportunities you’ve missed out on, you may never know, but half the thrill of adventure is in seeking your own path. Your feet carry you through the desert at a steady rhythm until you suddenly find yourself sinking in the sand. [break][break] You’ve discovered quicksand! Thankfully, neither of you weigh very much so the rate at which you’re sinking isn’t at a breakneck pace. You can still save yourself from being buried in the sand if you act quick.
